[Tig] Google buys Youtube

Many of the videos that are posted on YouTube are simply viral marketing.
Mixed in with all the spotty kids performing in from of their webcams, there
are lifts from broadcast TV ads, or straight-out viral ads. Sooner or later
you will see them as you browse. Sooner or later, Google will add a paid
section to YouTube, just as it has on Google itself.

Also, YouTube has a fairly smart search prioritiser. Once you have clicked
on a video, it stores all the tags for that clip, and moves similar subjects
up the list. Look at the funny cats video, and the top ten list suddenly
consists of animal videos (and presumably, the potential for Google to sell
spaces for pet food commercials). DOn't know how that engine compares with
Google's own, but it's the key to success with these massive portals.
