Slightly off topic for those who don't heat their homes with a
Telecine...
In the case of a Tumble drier, the main energy use is the heater rather
than the motor, although the motor use is not insignificant. (True of a
telecine also but the heater is all the rest of the electronics rather
than
a length of resistance wire.)
My understanding so far is the inductive properties of the motor is
where
this product claims to save energy. I guess there must be some savings,
although at this stage finding detailed theory on what exactly this
does, is
proving rather difficult. (Showing my ignorance here, but does it
improve
the power factor? If so I thought that benefitted only the power
company?) Of course with a dishwasher or perhaps refrigerator, the
savings if any
would be greater as the main energy usage is the motor.
Has anyone done any scientific tests on these devices?
